Dr. Thomas West read literature, art and philosophy, taking a Ph.D. in 1979. After lecturing at the University of East Anglia and at the University of Paris, he helped relaunch the magazine Art International in 1985, and served as its Chief Editor for six years. At the same time he lectured at the National Museum of Modern Art (Centre Georges Pompidou), helping create such exhibitions as Pierre Bonnard (1983), Kandinski (1984), Balthus (1984), Matta (1985) and the Late Picasso (1988).
